Empowering Voices Through Words
I've spent more than thirty years in ELA classrooms doing the thing I love most: helping people find their voices. With an MA in English Education from Columbia University's Teachers College, I've worked as a teacher, writing coach, and private college prep tutor to guide students through everything from foundational reading and writing skills to the high-stakes demands of AP English and college essays and applications.
My work helps students not only become stronger writers, but also more confident thinkers, discovering that their stories matter, and that the right words to tell them are already inside.
Among the literary heroes who have inspired my own writing are Gabriel García Márquez and Louise Erdrich. Why? The best storytelling doesn’t escape the everyday. It makes the everyday shimmer with magic.
I hold the same reverence for the writers who shaped my earliest reading life: Dr. Seuss, E. B. White, and C. S. Lewis, who taught me that wonder has no age limit.
When not teaching or writing, you'll find me reading a good book at the pool or the beach, exploring somewhere new with my husband, or being bossed around by Strudel, my very opinionated mini dachshund.
